Neuro-oncology covers the diagnosis of brain and spinal cord tumors, surgical treatment, and planning of further care in a multidisciplinary setting.
When evaluation is needed
- New or progressive neurological symptoms
- Headache, seizures, visual or speech changes
- A lesion found on imaging
Approach
The plan is based on the clinical picture, MRI, and, when needed, coordination with other specialists. The aim of surgery is safe resection or biopsy with maximal preservation of neurological function.
